Syra Health is excited to share that our Indiana State Epidemiological Profile Dashboard site is now live!
Syra Health has been proudly managing the Indiana State Epidemiology Outcomes Workgroup (SEOW) since July 2021. Syra Health and the Department of Mental Health and Addiction, Indiana Family and Social Services Administration have been working together to research, collect, monitor, and provide data-driven results on behavioral and mental health to Hoosiers. As a result, we have compiled a large amount of valuable data and insights that we would like to share with the public.
About State Epidemiological Outcomes Workgroup (SEOW) Data Dashboard
The data dashboard provides latest available data compiled from various sources on behavioral and mental health in Indiana. In addition to mental health measures, the prevalence and consequences of substances such as alcohol, tobacco, marijuana, opioids, and stimulants are also tracked in this dashboard. This interactive SEOW data portal was developed using Tableau software, and is a virtual dynamic platform which displays charts, graphs, and maps from the SEOW’s Annual Report. It gives the viewer access to the data through digital visualizations. If desired, multiple graphs or charts may also be displayed on a single dashboard page. Dashboards are grouped together according to various topics and can be customized to display specific data according to year and location (state, county, or country).
Who are the intended users?
This dashboard is available for use by everyone! The dashboard can help the public better understand the trends of behavioral and mental health in Indiana. The state agencies, public health departments, prevention coordinators, local coalitions, clinicians, private and non-profit organizations, philanthropists, academia could also benefit from knowing the updated state/local data for policy, strategy, and decision-making purposes.
How to access SEOW’s data portal?
The Tableau dashboards can be accessed through the SEOW webpage, FSSA: DMHA: State Epidemiological Outcomes Workgroup (in.gov). Once on this page, select the link: Click here to access the data portal. This will navigate the viewer to the SEOW Tableau data portal page. From there, the viewer can select any topic of interest to explore the available data.
Where is the data originally sourced?
All SEOW dashboard data is obtained from Federal sources, State agencies, and organizations. Examples of data sources include Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), CDC-Behavioral Risk Factor Surveillance Survey (BRFSS), Youth Behavioral Risk Factor Surveillance Survey (YRBFSS), Indiana Youth Survey (INYS), Treatment Episode Data Set (TEDS), National Survey of Drug Use and Health (NSDUH), Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMSHA). We also obtained datasets on-request from the Department of Mental Health and Addiction, Indiana State Police, Indiana Department of Education, Indiana Department of Health, and Indiana Department of Child Services.
